Used VS New

For those deciding which Mercedes Benz model to purchase our 2023 Mercedes GLE order guide will give you the basic run down on just about anything you need to know. While not a deal breaker, one of the most enjoyable features I like on the GLE Class is that this model can raise and lower its air suspension like a classic low rider as part of the E-Active Body Control option. In addition to creating smiles and great social media content, this feature helps off-road by temporarily reducing the load on your wheels and keeping your vehicle free from nasty sand.

The GLE class is the one of the safest available models. In IIHS safety tests, a perfect crash score, a good and acceptable rating for the headlights, and an excellent and easy rating for the standard front-end anti-collision system. are getting. With optional systems, including pedestrian detection, the GLE is a top safety pick for 2021.

Only automated emergency braking and blind spot monitoring are included in GLE’s standard driver aid technology, but the Driver Assistance Package Plus provides all the functions you need. This consists of Front Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Centering, Lane Change Assist, Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Most examples of the GLE come with two rows of seating for five passengers, but an optional third row expands the capacity to seven. The front seat legroom is 40.3 inches, and a rear passenger can stretch his legs with his 40.9 inches of space. We don’t have measurements for the third row, but in our initial tests, we found these seats to be perfect for toddlers.

When the back seats are folded, the second row’s luggage space increases to 74.9 cubic feet. Luggage capacity is 33.3 cubic feet behind the second row and 74.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

Technology

Regardless of specification level, all GLEs have Mercedes-Dual Benz’s Display cabin, which includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The MBUX digital assistant will be available as a standalone option starting in 2021, while Apple Car Play, Android Auto, and built-in route planning are all standard.

Burmester offers two premium audio systems for audiophiles: a 13-speaker setup or a 25-speaker system with dome speakers.

Power Train

The three available choices for this car are the GLE 300 d, GLE 400 d, and GLE 450 d powertrains. Now let’s initiate the topic with GLE 300d. It is propelled by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that complies with BS6 standards and produces 245 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

With this engine, the GLE sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 225 km/h. A 3.0-liter in-line 6-turbocharged diesel engine that complies with BS6 and produces 330 PS and 700 Nm of torque powers the GLE 400 d.

It has a top speed of 245 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

For the GLE 450, Mercedes-Benz only offers petrol engines. This 3.0-liter BS6-compliant in-line six-cylinder engine produces a staggering 367 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, and in 5.7 seconds, he achieved a 0-100 km/h sprint, with a 250 km/h limit covering the top of his wack range. Additionally, the engine is outfitted with a 48V mild hybrid system. All three engines are mated to Mercedes’ 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive nine-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy

Mercedes-Benz offers more than five drive variants for the GLE class. Regardless of the engine, all versions include a 9-speed automatic transmission. Although most models are standard RWD, AWD is available on the entry-level GLE 350.

Trim

As for trim, the GLE 300 d is only offered in exclusive trim, while the GLE 400 d and GLE 450 are offered in Elite trim. The GLE is a fairly well-equipped car. It features a panoramic sunroof, THERMATIC 4-zone climate control, MBUX multimedia infotainment system, 64-color ambient lighting, active parking assistance, 7 airbags, 19-inch wheels, and LED headlights and taillights.

The elite model adds intelligent headlight control plus 20-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera, multibeam LED headlights with ultra-range hazard lights, 4MATIC with adjustable torque distribution, AIRMATIC adjustment, and a 360-degree camera. gle 450 bounce mode

Which One We Would Recommend

There are well-balanced, well-made luxury SUVs in the GLE range, but opting for the wrong box on the order sheet can result in an underperforming SUV. To be clear, avoid the GLE 350. In judging this GLE for the 2020 Car of the Year competition, the base model’s standard suspension was “almost uncontrollable,” a pickup with a live axle on a flat tire like his truck,” and “by far the worst.” The base powertrain of this midsize SUV is a modest 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.

In contrast, the GLE 450 is a pleasure. Sharp handling, great ride quality, and exceptional off-road ability are all provided by its air suspension. As operating in a long-distance GLE, the Ute is a fantastic travel vehicle. The MBUX infotainment system is trickier than we anticipated, with clumsy touchpad controls and features concealed behind menus.

Even though the GLE 63 S’s V-8 underperformed the super SUV in a year-over-year comparison, we were nonetheless impressed with its performance after testing it. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is more affordable, the Lamborghini Urus is quicker, and the GLS 63 is a superior Mercedes. Overall, the choice of luxury SUVs in the GLE class is impressive. If you can, stay away from that base suspension and powertrain.

  1. The GLE is a great car and i’d buy one in a heartbeat, but not over an S class. The S class has a bigger engine option with more HP, yes, but that isn’t what draws me to it. I like the fact that they are a little lower to the ground and easier to maneuver. The larger GLE would be nice for a small family vehicle but not if you need something for general commuting.
